KCUE and Korea National Open University Sign MOU
to Promote Virtual Experiment and Practice
- Strategic cooperation between the two institutions for digital innovation in higher education -
□ On June 4, 2025, the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE), led by Chairman Yang O-bong (President of Jeonbuk National University), and Korea National Open University, led by President Ko Song-hwan, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the aim to innovate higher education through virtual experimentation and practice.
□ The core objectives of this MOU include jointly using and sharing virtual experimentation and practical learning content, analytical and competency management systems, and facilitating inter-organizational scholarly and research exchanges. A particular focus is on developing a big data-driven cooperation model to improve the quality of higher education and promote digital learning environments.
□ Under this MOU, the two organizations will cooperate in the following areas:
◦ To use and disseminate the common platform for virtual experimentation and practical learning content;
◦ To use and share a big data sharing system for virtual experimentation and practical learning analysis;
◦ To improve the quality of education through the use of the common system for virtual experimentation and practical learning competency management; and
◦ To facilitate mutual scholarly exchange including joint research program development.
□ The specifics and procedures of the projects outlined in this MOU will be determined through subsequent discussions and consultations. This MOU will remain in effect unless terminated, and the cooperative projects within this framework will be carried out jointly by both institutions.
□ "This MOU marks the beginning of our cooperation to facilitate digital transformation in higher education," said KCUE Chairman Yang O-bong. "In particular, sharing educational resources among universities based on virtual experiment and practice will contribute to the creation of a learner-centered, convergent educational ecosystem."
□ Looking ahead, the KCUE remains committed to driving innovation in higher education and building foundations for sustainable development through organized cooperation with its member universities and relevant institutions.
